How much does your day’s happiness depend on your morning wake-up? If I wake up on the right side of the bed, my day has a solid chance to be a good one. Even a great one. But, if I wake up on the wrong side, how will I imagine the day unfolding? Probably not with a positive point of view. To get myself out of my wrong-sided bed and onto the right foot, I’ve been trying a new strategy. If I wake up emotionally kerfluffled, I treat myself to a few good morning quotes by wise, creative, and humorous people.
The result? I have a better chance of having a good day. It’s really pretty simple! And, now, here are some curated quotes to help you find your “right side of the bed!”
Good Morning Sunshine!
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” Mark Twain
“We can choose to wake up and grumble all day and be bitter and angry and judge others and find satisfaction in others doing bad instead of good. Or we can we wake up with optimism and love and say, ‘Just what is this beautiful day going to bring me?'” Margaret Trudeau
“When you do something noble and beautiful and nobody noticed, do not be sad. For the sun every morning is a beautiful spectacle and yet most of the audience still sleeps.” John Lennon
Beautiful Words and a Laugh
“How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.” Anne Frank
“When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive – to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love.” Marcus Aurelius
“I wake up every morning at nine and grab for the morning paper. Then I look at the obituary page. If my name is not on it, I get up.” Benjamin Franklin
Sweet Inspiration
“Promise me you’ll always remember: You’re braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.” A.A. Milne
“If you cannot fly then run, if you cannot run then walk, if you cannot walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” Martin Luther King Jr.
“Once you choose hope, anything is possible.” Christopher Reeve
Some Rockin’ Jagger Wisdom
It’s weird, but I’ve never thought of Mick Jagger as being inspirational or self-reflective. And that’s on me! Because he is. I find both quotes below as falling into the good morning quotes category because they each help me think about love, gratitude, and new beginnings.
“You wake up in the morning and you look at your old spoon, and you say to yourself, ‘Mick, it’s time to get yourself a new spoon.’ And you do.” — Mick Jagger
“I wanted to share this song that I wrote about eventually coming out of lockdown, with some much-needed optimism – thank you to Dave Grohl for jumping on drums, bass and guitar, it was a lot of fun working with you on this – hope you all enjoy Eazy Sleazy !” Mick Jagger
And a Good Morning From My Favorite Author
If I could wake up each day with some good morning quotes by Louisa May Alcott, I think I’d be dancing my way through the hours. That’s how much I love her.
“Up at dawn, the dewy freshness of the hour, the morning rapture of the birds, the daily miracle of sunrise, set her heart in tune, and gave her nature’s most healing balm.” Louisa May Alcott
NOTE: The beautiful sunrise photo is by thomashendele from Pixabay. Thank you!

I enjoyed the quotes mainly for the reason that these were uncommon picks. Franklin was funny haha. I love mick jagger too. And Louisa, also one I liked too from your favorites. Anything to get one on the right side of the bed in the early morning. it’s great to know what works for you. Xx

I love the Ben Franklin quote 😂
Humor definitely keeps us young and energized!
Ben was a great guy!!!
Just what I needed to read on Election Day!
Thanks, Amy
Many of us needed this!
Hi Amy,
Lovely thoughts to have a better day regardless of which side of the bed we wake up on.
Have a happy day.
🙏
Norm
Yes, these are lovely thoughts and we so need them now! Thank you for reading.
So, so very glad the quotations were meaningful. We need that more than ever.
Thanks for this. For months I have been waking up, not with a smile but with a grimace. Now I will have to find my own good morning pick me ups. Matthew worked with someone who, when asked how he was, said, “I feel great; I woke up on the right side of the grass.” Better than the alternative!
What a beautiful comment! Matthew definitely has the right idea!
