This music video garnered over seven million hits within its first week of release. Unlike other cover versions, the Muppets single features the final master of Queen’s original 1975 recording.
Full disclosure: I adore Queen; there’s never been a rock band like it ever since Freddie Mercury made it a global sensation. But there’s nothing in the world like the Muppets’ version of their Bohemian Rhapsody. First, it’s the Muppets. Second, there are 70 of them singing. Third, it’s a grand-scale attempt to do something both immensely loving and fantastically funny.
