Bohemian Rhapsody©

Bohemian Rhapsody©, by Queen, was performed by the Muppets in 2009. Yes, you are about to hear the Muppets do Bohemian RhapsodyThis music video garnered over seven million hits within its first week of release. Unlike other cover versions, the Muppets single features the final master of Queen’s original 1975 recording.

Full disclosure: I adore Queen; there’s never been a rock band like it ever since Freddie Mercury made it a global sensation. But there’s nothing in the world like the Muppets’ version of their Bohemian Rhapsody. First, it’s the Muppets. Second, there are 70 of them singing. Third, it’s a grand-scale attempt to do something both immensely loving and fantastically funny.

{Note to yourself: check out the Muppets singing Mahna Mahna!}

Are You Ready, Freddie? Here We Go!

[Gonzo]
Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide
No escape from reality
Open your eyes
Look up to the skies and see
I’m just a poor boy
I need no sympathy
Because I’m easy come, easy go
Little high, little low
Anyway the wind blows
Doesn’t really matter to me, to me!!

[Animal]
Mama!
Mama? Yeah! Mama! Uhm mama…
MAMA!
MAMA! Ahahaha MAMAMAMAMAMAMAMAMAMA!
MAMA! Yoho?
Mama? Yoho Mama!
Mama? Mama…
Dada? DADA!

[Pepe]
I see a little silhouetto of a clam
Scaramouch, Scaramouch, will you do the fandango?

[Chorus]
Thunderbolt and lightning, very very frightening me

[Beaker and Bobo]
Mimimimi, Galileo
Mimimimi, Galileo
Galileo Figaro! Magnifico

[Penguins]

[Dr. Honeydew]
I’m just a poor boy, nobody loves me

[Rizzo & the Mice]
He’s just a poor boy, from a poor family
Spare him his life from this…

[Big Mean Carl]
Monstruosity! Argh!

[Dr. Honeydew]
Easy come, easy go. Will you let me go?

[Mahna Mahna]
Manamana! Doh doh doh doh!

[Lew Zealand]
Let me throw!

[Mahna Mahna]
Manamana!

[Beauregard]
We will not let you throw!

[Crazy Harry]
Let me blow!

[Mahna Mahna]
Manamana!

[Beauregard]
We will not let you blow!

[Fozzie]
Let me joke?

[Statler & Waldorf]
We don’t like your jokes!

[Fozzie]
Let me joke?

[Statler & Waldorf]
We don’t like your jokes! Hahaha

[Fozzie]
Let me joke!

[Harry explodes stuff and laughs]

[Sam]
No no no no no no no!

[Swedish Chef]
Furnigui! Furnigui!

[Turkey]
Mama mia let me go!

[Chorus]
Does anyone know if there is a part for me?
For me! For…

[Beaker]
Miiiiii!

[Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem]
So they tell us this video is going to fly!
All I know is we’re not getting paid tonight!
Oh baby! Can’t do this to me baby!
Just gotta get out
Just gotta get right outta here

[Miss Piggy]
Nothing really matters
Anyone can see
Nothing really matters
Nothing really matters
But moi!

[All]
Anyway the wind blows…

[Kermit]
Uh, Scooter?

[Scooter]
Yeah, chief?

[Kermit]
Remind me to not set up these video conferences
They’re not very productive

[Scooter]
You’ve got it!

[Kermit]
Eesh!

How lovely is it that the Muppets & Queen can come together in this way! Do you think Freddie would have liked it?
