She’s a Maniac© is the hit song from the 1983 film Flashdance. The song’s idea was originally inspired by a news report on a serial killer. It’s a long story leading to a great music video!
Flashdance director Adrian Lyne recognized the power of the song’s intensity and used it for an unforgettable scene in which Jennifer Beals trains for an audition. After the film was a surprise success, an MTV music video was made, airing in May 1983.
Because the video was shown extensively on MTV, Flashdance became the third highest-grossing film in the U.S. that year. In this music video, Heather Parisi, an American-born Italian dancer, singer and TV personality, leaps into our hearts with her amazing interpretation of She’s a Maniac.
